  10.  A few items to add to what I filed yesterday from
  11. conversation with Mrs, Schwarzkopf:
  12.  
  13.  She said his maangement style is collegial, and he
  14. solicits the opinions of others before making decisions.
  15. ``He likes very much hearing everybody's input,'' she
  16. said. ``He makes the final decision.''
  17.  
  18.  Mrs. Schwarzkopf said the general has always taken a
  19. personal interest in the welfare of soldiers serving
  20. under him. She couldn't recall any anecdotes, but spoke
  21. with pride about a ``Quality of Life Program'' he devised 
  22. when stationed at Fort Stuart, Georgia. She described
  23. this as a large discussion program for people working at
  24. the base to improve living and working conditions.
  25. Included in panels were officiers, enlisted personnel,
  26. dependents and civilian workers. She said he also started 
  27. this program at Fort Lewis.

  29.  ``He loves his soldiers,'' said Mrs. Schwarzkopf. ``He
  30. has done everything he can possibly can for his soldiers
  31. and his family.''

  33.  Not much of Mrs. Schwarzkopf says is terribly quotable.
  34. She speaks in glowing and adoring terms of her husband -- 
  35. here are a few examples:

  37. ``I think of him as being a very smart person. I think he 
  38. knows his job better than anybody else.''

  40. ``He's very proud, patriotic.''
